Information Security Officer / IT Coordinator

Develops and implements policies and programs relating to information security and information technology (IT); coordinates information security and IT activities such as projects, new product analyses and implementation, risk assessments, desktop user support, etc.; Chairs the IT Steering Committee; Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Coordinator; lead for the bank’s Incident Response Team; and monitors the bank’s third party vendor.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Chairs the IT Steering Committee. The Committee is responsible for introducing and evaluating new products, services, and purchases, performing risk assessments on existing and future products and services, and monitoring projects through completion.
  • Develops, updates, and implements policies, programs, and procedures relating to information security, information technology, cybersecurity, and business continuity / disaster recovery.
  • Coordinates high priority systems tickets, such as network, data, core applications, and VoIP, to resolution.
  • Coordinates and tracks the delivery, set up, and configuration of end-user desktop hardware, mobile phones, software, and peripherals.
  • Provides support to end users for computer, applications, systems, devices, access, and hardware issues.  Provides support through various communication methods including phone, email, and in-person for all IT issues.
  • Provides desktop user support by authorizing and monitoring tickets to completion and escalating issues when needed to ensure optimum performance is achieved.  Has the ability to communicate urgency to achieve the appropriate actions and results in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates IT and information security projects including network and communication system upgrades and expansion; equipment refreshes; new purchases; new products and services; etc. 
  • Tech savvy and knowledgeable about modern and future technologies; researches the products and services to communicate their costs, benefits, risks, etc., to management.  Implements the technology and trains staff on its uses and benefits.   
  • Oversees the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery program, including bank-wide staff training, planning, and leading the Disaster Recovery testing processes, etc.
  • Oversees and monitors the bank’s IT third party vendor.
  • Maintains the bank’s website.
  • Lead for the bank’s Incident Response Team and is the liaison between the executive management team and its IT third party engineers in detecting, resolving, and mitigating system and/or information breaches.
  • Lead for the facilitated risk assessments which includes cybersecurity, information security, business impact analysis, and business continuity. Participates in the identity theft / red flags and vendor management assessments.
  • Develops and implements staff training programs regarding information security, cybersecurity, the importance of prevention, detection, and reporting incidents, and incident response procedures, roles, and responsibilities.
  • Compiles annual information security, cybersecurity, and identity theft/red flags reports to summarize the overall status of the programs and presents them to executive management and the Board of Directors.
  • Responsible for IT and information security responses to the bank’s auditors and FDIC examiners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in information security or related field from an accredited college or university and two years of work experience in information security and technology; or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Work related experience should consist of information security and technology operations. Educational experience, certification programs, or formal school, should be applicable to the information security and technology industry.
  • Banking experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of laws and regulations related to information security.
  • Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Thorough knowledge of information technology systems and cybersecurity threats.
  • Tech-savvy and well informed about modern and future technology.  Understands how it’s utilization can impact the workplace and performance.
  • Website maintenance experience preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate a sense of urgency to achieve the appropriate actions and responses from others to resolve issues.  Applies common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, write reports, correspondence, and procedures, and speak clearly to customers and employees. 
  • Exceptional organizational skills including a tracking/tickler system to ensure follow-through with tasks in a timely manner.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, strong desire to resolve issues and meet needs of fellow employees and the bank, and respectful and professional attitude.
  • Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations relative to information security and technology.
  • Ability to exercise good business judgment and discretion to maintain absolute confidentiality over customer information and other bank business activities.
  • Working skills in core applications and internet access.
  • Basic math and accounting skills.
